DIon Valaskakis is President of Portfolio IV Media and Consulting, a management consulting practice started in 2008 with clients in North America, Europe and Australia. In that capacity, he has served as a strategic advisor to both individuals and organizations, helping them accelerate their development, reinvent themselves periodically and transform their errors into magnificent mistakes.

Ion brings a combination of entrepreneurial and executive experience in the public, private and plural sectors. He has worked as a Press Secretary on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC, helped launch and run a ground-breaking international media initiative for the world’s largest mobile phone company in London, served as a senior executive in a fast-growing technology start-up in Montreal and most recently as President of the Jeanne Sauvé Foundation.

In 2014, he published “The Magnificent Mistake: How We Can Earn More from Failure than We Learn from Success”. It describes an innovative system he developed to teach leaders and teams how to learn from their errors, and why it’s so important to do so. In 2016, he presented a thought-provoking talk “Why we need a “Leadership Operating System” now” at TedXMcGill.

Ion has an MBA from London Business School, a Master of Arts (M.A.) in political science from Western University and a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University.
